If you’re here, you may be wondering why face wash as such is even important. So many times we’ve been advised not to use it due to its drying properties. However, the truth is that a good face wash should be an important part of anyone’s skin care routine. It effectively cleanses skin and washes of the remains of make up that so many of us use. What’s important though is to find a face wash that suits your skin.
We also must be aware of the fact that most of the commercially made products consist of sulfates. parabens and other chemicals. They dry out our skin, may cause allergies and result in skin irritation. Therefore, it’s perfectly natural and even better to search for natural ways to cleanse our skin. Coconut Oil Face Wash
Coconut oil is a great source of saturated fatty acids. In the past, scientists were mostly thinking that saturated fatty acids weren‘t healthy and in fact harmful. However, science keeps on finding out new things on daily basis and new research shows completely different results. It‘s now known that saturated fats are harmless and it looks like there is no association between these fats and cardiovascular diseases. In the past, everyone was blaming saturated fats for causing cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, people were staying away from coconut oil. Now we know it was a mistake.
We have slowly learnt that coconut oil is a great moisturiser. In addition to that, studies show that coconut oil also blocks dangerous ultraviolet rays to which we‘re exposed every day. No wonder why this product can help you to cleanse skin and keep it healthy. Here is a short recipe for coconut oil face wash to keep your skin shiny and smooth.
Ingredients
- 1 glass of coconut oil
- 5 drops of lemon essential oil
- 1 tablespoon of baking soda
- 5 drops of lavender essential oil
- 5 drops of frankincense essential oil
Heat the coconut oil and mix it with all of the other ingredients. Let the mixture cool down and put it into a jar. It doesn’t necessarily need to be a jar, however try to avoid plastic bottles or boxes. Keep the mixture in a cool place, preferably fridge.
Aloe Vera Face Wash
Everyone knows aloe vera for its soothing properties. People have used this plant for about 6,000 years now. Sounds like a long time, doesn’t it? Obviously, there is a reason for it. Aloe vera gel is used to cure burns, treat acne, moisturise and even reduce the speed of ageing. Therefore, this face wash mostly reduces irritation, redness and soothes skin.
One of the ingredients in this face wash is almond oil. It beautifully adds up to aloe vera healing features. This oil is full of vitamins and has many interesting properties such as wound healing, moistuirising, reduction of dark circles and tan. The combination of both creates a lovely and full of nutrients mixture that will benefit any type of skin.
Ingredients:
- ¼ glass of aloe vera gel
- 2 tablespoons of almond oil
- 1 tablespoon of liquid castile soap
- 5-10 drops of lavender essential oil
- 2 tablespoons of rosewater
All you need to do is mix all of the ingredients together and keep the mixture in a jar or any other container. In addition to that, make sure it‘s always tightly closed. Whenever you want to use it, just wet your face and rub the mixture into your skin. Keep it on for around 30 seconds and wash it off.
Clay and Honey Face Wash
Clay and honey is an interesting combination. However, the mixture you‘ll get is great for sensitive skin. In order to make the face wash yourself, you‘ll first need to choose which clay to choose. You could use either Rhassoul, French Green, Kaolin or Bentonite clay. Rhassoul clay is more suitable for those with oily skin and acne problems since it‘s mostly known for its exfoliating features. French Green clay is suitable for those who have normal or oily skin. The product absorbs oil very well, therefore helps to get rid of all of the unnecessary oiliness on the skin. Kaolin Clay – for those with sensitive and dry skin. Bentonite Clay – super strong, fights against acne.
Ingredients:
- 1-2 tablespoons of clay
- ¼ glass of honey
- 2 drops of lavender essential oil
Simply mix all of the ingredients together and pour into a jar. In order to use it, you need to scoop out a small amount of the mixture. Afterwards, wet your face with water and rub it into your skin with circular motions. Let it stay there for a minute or so. However, if you want to turn this face wash into a mask, you can keep it on for around 20 minutes. After that, wash it off and enjoy your new baby skin!

Charcoal Face Wash
The charcoal face wash is suitable for those with oily skin. However, it‘s still a great moisturising product! It mainly constitutes of charcoal and coconut oil. Here are some of the important features that make this face wash special.
First of all, activated charcoal also known as activated carbon treats acne, mosquito bites and spots. Secondly, it prevents ageing by clearing toxins from our bodies. However, to get that effect you‘ll actually have to consume it. Another ingredient – coconut oil moisturises skin by delving deep into your pores. It‘s also an oxidant, therefore has cleansing features. In addition to that, coconut oil has a magical scent that makes anyone feel like in paradise. Coconut oil and charcoal combined can do wonders to your skin and help it to be clean and soft again.
Ingredients:
- 6 activated charcoal capsules
- 1 glass of coconut oil
- 5 drops of lavender oil
- 2 tablespoons of baking soda
- 5 drops of rosemary oil
Take charcoal capsules and break them open into a bowl. Afterwards add coconut oil and baking soda. Mix everything very well and add essential oils. Beautiful! Wet your skin, rub in the mixture and wash it off. Now enjoy your beautiful skin!
Another Face Wash Recipe
Honey Face Wash
Honey has been widely used for a long time now. So many people consume it pretty much every day due to the amazing properties that it has. Honey is an antioxidant. It cleanses skin and nourishes it with all of the vitamins and minerals it has. It‘s also highly antibacterial and all of that due to one magical enzyme. That‘s the reason why it‘s a good cure against acne. Therefore, if you‘re suffering from it, honey could be the natural product to go for. In addition to that, it‘s an absolutely outstanding moisturiser, because it has the ability to absorb and keep the moisture.
Ingredients
- 1/3 glass of honey
- 1/3 glass of castile soap
- 2 tablespoons of jojoba, olive, avocado or almond oil
- 3 tablespoons of boiled water
You‘ll need a jar or a soap dispenser to store the mixture that you‘re about to make. First of all, add water and then everything else. Shake it or stir it, depending on what storage you‘re using. Moreover, make sure to use plain soap that doesn’t have any scent. Otherwise, the resulting smell of this face wash may not be necessarily very pleasant.
Grainy Face Wash
This face wash is for your imagination. Therefore, you can play around and find what suits you best. It’s very much like a scrub, therefore it will do wonders to your skin as a cleanser and an exfoliant.
Ingredients:
- Ground coffee
- Oats
- Dried chamomile
- Jojoba oil, olive oil or any other oil that suits your skin type
Take oats, coffee and chamomile and blend them together. Don’t do it for too long though. Mix the powder you get with a couple spoons of your chosen oil. Now wash your face with warm water so that your pores open up and massage in the mixture. Do it for a minute or so. Afterwards, wash it off with cold water to make sure that your pores close. Use this face wash/scrub 2 or 3 times a week and enjoy your beautiful skin.
